Businesses bustling ahead of Christmas

HAMILTON businesses have reported a strong rebound in sales during December as the community buys local this Christmas.

Hamilton Regional Business Association (HRBA) secretary, Louise McLennan said it had been great to see people walking around and supporting local businesses again after a tough year.

“I think people have decided that they are going to stay and buy local this year,” she said.

“Shopping local is so great for the town and we have been seeing lots of people around town buzzing in and out of stores and it’s lovely to see so much support.

“The people and business owners that I have spoken with in the last couple of weeks have said that they have been receiving lots of support from locals in town.”

Ms McLennan said it was important to opt for small, local shops and friendly customer service.

“I believe people are working hard to stay in town and not buy out-of-town goods, people are making that decision to shop in Hamilton and that is really great to see,” she said.
