Town koalas on the move

THIS koala is one of a thriving population in Hamilton and clambered up a small tree on the median strip in Pope Street on Sunday to avoid traffic. A local wildlife expert said their movement was normal at most times of year and they usually “know where they’re going”. Moments after this photo was taken, the koala apparently took off across the road (with traffic stopped) and thankfully found a much larger tree to go up. Photo: SUPPLIED.

KOALAS have been known to move around the Hamilton CBD regularly and locals have been reminded to let them be as they travel from place to place.
