A family footy tradition

“My Grandfather and father both barracked for Richmond…it was a family thing. Going to the football was a family ritual every Saturday, and of course it was always the Tigers games. In the days before radio and TV broadcasts, when my dad was a boy, my grandfather would take a bag with 4 homing pigeons in it to the Punt Road Oval and send the scores home via note on the bird’s leg at the end of each quarter. I can just picture my dada sitting by the pigeon loft waiting for a bird to appear with a score update.” SGSC CEO Tony Doyle
