Colourful Run a great success

LAKE Hamilton was a sea of paint on Saturday as locals braved the cold conditions to take part in the annual Liv4Life Colourful run.

The fundraising event, presented by Good Shepherd College VCAL students, was held in support of youth mental health and aimed at reducing youth suicide rates in rural communities.

Participants left the starting point at the Adventure Playground and either ran, danced or walked around the lake while being splashed with colourful paint at the start of the race and again in the Colour Zone near the finish line.

The family-friendly event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 restrictions but Good Shepherd College VCAL co-ordinator, Linda Stickland, was extremely pleased it went ahead this year.

“The normal restrictions were in place and runners left in staggered groups, but it was managed very well,” she said.

“Everyone wore white t-shirts and PPE (personal protective equipment), it was environmentally friendly and thank you very much to the community for participating and supporting a great cause.”
