LAST Thursday PJ’s Playhouse owner Laura Reid found out that they had been evicted from their current building.
On Friday Ms Reid organised a fundraiser in one last attempt to save PJ’s, which was received well by the community at the Playhouse on Saturday night.
Ms Reid said that she still had people messaging her as of Monday afternoon asking what they could do to help her out.
“I don’t know where to start, but I am so overwhelmed and super lucky that I have had the community’s support and if I can afford it then it will be worth reopening the Playhouse as I now know that it is something that the community wants to happen,” she said.
“In sales alone on Saturday night we raised over $2000 and we have never had so many people in here at once, it was just incredible to see how quickly so many people came to lend a hand.”
The raffle will be drawn this Saturday, March 25, with all the funds going towards PJ’s Playhouse, with the winners to receive a $60 regional butcher voucher, a two hour house clean valued at $70, a flavourista pack, cookie box, family sized mud cake, and a bottle of Lereve perfume of your choice valued at $80, three $50 pink pots vouchers, a $25 artisan cakes and sweets voucher, a Java Jive coffee voucher, the hire of a custom sign and easel and a tealight holder valued at $85, as well as five boxes of tealight valued over $80.
Ms Reid said that she would personally like to thank representatives from the Southern Grampians Shire, Roger Rook, Daniel and Mel, and especially the mayor, David Robertson, for the support and effort they have made to help PJ’s. Ms Reid said she was blown away by the support that was shown.
“To all my friends and family, the amazing customers of PJ’s for everything, every message of support, every offer to help, every story of how PJ’s helped them has been overwhelming, I know that because of our amazing community that I want to fight to bring PJ’s back,” she said.
So far there has been about $5000 raised in total – including over $2200 from the GoFundMe page, over $2000 from Saturday night, and $700 the sale of firewood.
