Transmission line route through farmland slammed

FARMERS rallied recently outside Parliament House in Melbourne to protest the proposal to run new transmission lines through farmland in Western Victoria. Also attending were Mallee MP, Anne Webster, The Nationals leader, David Littleproud, Western Victoria MP, Joe McCracken and Western Victoria MP, Bev McArthur. The map of VNI West released by Transmission Company Victoria shows the proposed route the high-capacity 500 kilovolt overhead transmission line will take, adding 1.93 Gigawatts of electricity export capacity from Victoria to New South Wales, and 1.67GW of electricity import capacity from New South Wales to Victoria. REACTION has been swift and strong following the public release on Wednesday by Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) of their “preferred easement” for the Victorian section of the VNI (Victoria-New South Wales Interconnector) West transmission project.
